June 2018 – Present / South Texas
On June 20, 2018, intense tropical rains from the Gulf of Mexico bucketed down on the Texas coast, triggering severe flash flooding that overran local communities. With water levels reaching shoulder height, homes have been engulfed in water creating significant damage, while many roads are uncrossable making it challenging to reach the families who are affected. The Governor of Texas has declared a state of emergency for 5 counties including one of the hardest hit, Hidalgo County.
The All Hands and Hearts Rapid Response team quickly assessed the situation and set up a response program in Hidalgo County where we are helping communities to restore homes. Our work will be focused on debris removal, mucking and gutting and mold sanitation.
As there is a great demand for our help, it is critical that we find volunteers to start immediately.
